The origin of the name Mediterranean gull is because its wide spread in the Mediterranean, though it doesn't breed they anymore. The Mediterranean gull also has an Ancient Greek name: Ichthyaetus melanocephalus, each part of the name has a different meaning. Ichthyaetus is a combination of two words,
