Wiki Templates Guide

Using templates might seem hard and quite confusing! No matter, that is why we have this guide! You’ll understand it in no time.

• Stuck? Be sure to review over this guide, make sure you didn't miss any steps. If you gone through and still unsure what's wrong or aren't understanding, you may contact the historians and ask!

Getting Started

Using templates, you’ll be dealing with the pages source editing system.

Don’t threat, you won’t be making any changes to the wiki itself. Only thing the source editing will affect is your page. If there are any errors or issues, the historian team will take a look and fix it.

I: Creating your Page

Following the steps from the wiki guide, we've officially opened to the page you will be using. Instead of using the visual editor system, you will need to open the source editing.

When you first create the page, it will lock onto using the visual editor, meaning you can't click back and change to the editor source. This can be solved by clicking the pencil icon on the top bar, and dropping down, it will show visual editing and source editing. There, click source editing and it'll open up to the source editing.

II: Inserting the Template

Inserting the template for the page is fairly easy! Clicking the insert button on the top bar, it'll drop down a list of options you can insert. For inserting templates, click template. Opening the template menu open, here you're going to search for the template you're going to use!

• If you're going to do a page about a nation, in the template search bar, type in infobox/nation. Click on the template and it'll insert it into the page.

• If you're going to do a page about a character, in the template search bar, type in infobox/character. Click on the template and it'll insert it into the page.
  • Having issues finding the template or search is not working? Try reloading the page, but be sure to save if you have information that hasn't been yet saved, you may have to retrace steps, and see if it'll pop up again!

III: Adding info into the Template

This is where we'll get into using the source editor! After inserting the template, which should look like the example to your right. Open the source editor, by clicking the pencil icon, and it'll show the template with {{Infobox/Nation}} or {{Infobox/Character}} in the code!

To add information, you're going to have to open to doc! This is done by doing it the same way as adding the template, just type it as infobox/nation/doc or infobox/character/doc. Instead of inserting the doc, click on the "template's page" that will pop up before, from there, copy and paste the needed code from the example section of the page!

If you're using nation or character template, they work the same. To type in your info, there should be a sort of guide showing where to fill out.

• Where you can type should say "test", "blank" or "unknown", remove these, and after the equal sign (=), you're able to fill out the infobox!

Adding Collapsible Boxes

Adding the collapsible boxes isn't a problem. Doing the same process as adding the information, however going to the nations template page, you'll copy and paste the bottom section of the template showcasing sections such as overview and relations. You're welcome to use this for your character page, as well as rename the section names.

• Need an example of what it looks like? Check out other nation or character pages to see! You can do this by searching up a nation or character, or looking at the lists for both in the navigation bar.

Going back to the visual editor, or you're welcome to stay and use the source editor, you can go to where the collapsible box is on the page and be able to type there! When your page is done and saved, it'll be collapsed under the heading and you can expand it!

Adding Images into the Infoboxes

Want to add your characters image or nations symbol/logo to the infobox? Easy! First, following uploading the image first hand, you're going to go into source editor. Where you will add the image, which will be labeled flag. After the equal sign (=), you'll type in [[File: YourFilesName.png/jpg]].

• Having issues? Be sure to check if your image is uploaded by you, do this by following the wiki guide, and try inserting it into the page first. If everything is fine there, be sure to check how you typed it in the source editor to see if it matches your images name.
• Everything right but not adding? Ask one of the historians and they'll see what's wrong.

To note as of now! We are currently looking into fixing this, but adding images to character infoboxes is currently unavailable. Check back here, as we keep this updated, to see if this matter is fixed.
