Description

From another world, Christian Dominic Kuon, better known as Chrom, stands as among the greater victims of The Reset. In his past world, he was a Seer, taken from his small village; trained in the art of divination in New Eldoria by his long lost master. With seers being among the most prized hunts of his world, poached at every corner. Antlers, blood, even eyes, each bearing immense aura in the magic of divination.

Once The Reset happened, he awoke later than most. In the forest, he travelled far and wide, but with no avail. Searching lands such as Valyria and Pyrosia, he longed for home, something he has lost. However, the thing he held dear to him was not his memories, in fact a majority of his memories remained intact. What he had lost were his abilities to divine, to be able to see the future, gone.

He searched The Memories Library and Archive for answers, even becoming a librarian there, but he found nothing. His ability and definition as a seer was lost, and so was his sanity.

Appearance

Overall, considering his fractured mental state, he's surprisingly neat. Although, his hair is another story, describable as a messy wolfcut that's slightly overgrown. He presents with facial features reminiscent of his world before the reset. His right eye is complete, featuring a faded blue-grey color. His left eye is nothing, but a socket, empty. On the left side of his face, he features prominent scarring, a lingering reminder of the trauma he endured.

He wears a dark green coat with a collar that is reminiscent of an aviator jacket. Underneath, he wears a black shirt, grey pants, and black shoes.

Lastly, his prized possesion, his Silver Eye Necklace. A prestigious award, blessed, enchanted, and given only to the finest masters of divination. However, in this world, he's the only one who knows what that means. A reminder of his success that is a mere piece of metal to those in The Land of The Forgotten.

Personality and Hobbies

Chrom features an unpredictable personality, often varying on the volume of Divine Vision Potions he has drank. However, in his most lucid state, he's known to be quite reasonable; some would describe him as intelligent, standing as among the lingering pieces of him after The Reset. He's grown quite fond of collecting artifacts, anything that could help him go back home, or regain his abilities. Often interested, and collecting, various relics, ingredients, and artifacts from different nations. These also include various pieces of literature, some even from Alfheim.

Despite these traits of him, he is still clouded by the loss of his ability. He's a seer, a master of divination, born with the ability, trained in the art of being able to see the future. However, he is grounded in the past, forever mourning what he has lost. Driven to insanity, madness, and wretchedness; he's succumbed to Divine Vision Potions. It's a potion from home known to enhance divination-centered abilities. However, without the magical traces and ingredients of his world, the resultant potion creates something intoxicating to the body and mind.

Divine Vision Potions

Divine Vision Potions are known to have universal adverse side effects on the body, often creating pale complexions as anemia is a common side-effect. Often induces paranoia, anxiety, and schizophrenia. Divine Vision Potions also increase levels of Serotonin and Dopamine at fluctuating rates. Excessive consumption contributes to the following:

  • Anemia
  • Arrythmia
  • Emotional Imbalances
  • May Trigger / Induce Bipolar Disorder
  • Reliance / Addiction
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Tiredness

500 Miles From Home (Peter, Paul, and Mary) - A Chrom Side Story

IF YOU MISS THE TRAIN, YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM GONE

I walk across the land of The Forgotten, remorsing who and what I've become. Powerless. All my work, the laws, the protection, all for the seers, turned into dust. In a world that repels magic. However, as I stand on the balcony of my home I'm reminded of what could have been. Accurate visions bringing prosperity to the lands I've visited. To be able to anticipate tragedy and prevent it, to change the tides of the water to prevent those around me.

My cauldron would be rich with ingredients, the kind I could infuse with magic; conjuring potions that aid the mind, soul, and body. Aristotle said it best, you have to look at the whole, body and mind, and yet Plato defines me as my body is no longer one with my mind.

The legacy of the seers that came before me lost, ending with me, powerless. You can hear the whistle of the train as it passes, as long as you are 100 miles away. I'm further than that.

500 MILES FROM HOME

I'm sitting in my basement as a new customer arrives, I can't see his face, he's shrouded as he asks me a question that turns me into his client. "Sorry for the intrusion Chrom, I've been eager to ask you something."

"If you mean to question my services, I suggest you walk away before you do something as foolish as that," I reply.

"Oh no, I just have to ask, what's it like not being a seer?"

"Get out," I reply sharply. My eyes trace around the trinkets in my office, reminding me of the vanity of my work. Animating themselves, moving, and laughing, pointing at me.

"I think you misunderstood me, I do believe you're a seer, just a lost one."

"Ergo, you think what I do is meaningless? Thank you mister, now leave," I say holding back my tongue from something worse.

He sits down on the sitter's chair, leaning forward towards my desk, "I'm just saying, at one point, or another, you're going to have to admit that you've lost your ability Chrom."

"You say that as if I could get it back," I reply as my fingers trace a dagger under my desk.

"I say that as if you're blind to the future, you're a seer clinging to the past? Pathetic, I expected better from the Christian Dominic Kuon," he says disappointingly as if I failed him. He gets up from the seat and disappears, he was nothing, but a fragment of my imagination.

I look down at my desk, the dagger I had been tracing was just a vial of Divine Vision, it's really just a hoax, a drug I use to help me see quote, unquote, visions. It's untouched, unopened, the cork still vacuumed to the glass. Tears materials from my eyes as I understand the implications of what had just happened. The spilled water from my cauldron shining like silver on the stone floor. The translucency in the banners of ice and jade in my office. The stone floor is more than a floor, and the banners are more than translucent.

Maybe I'm not completely lost after all.

LORD, I CAN'T GO HOME, THIS AWAY

I step out of my office, facing the sun. The disease on the berries and bushes in front of it has began fading. Music from the library, maybe just someone singing a tune, draws me to the pier. I'm facing the water, sitting down, reminded of all that I've lost, and all that I am. I cannot swim, but I can still drown, and that's enough proof that I'm still a seer.

My reflection stares back at me like a ghost that's haunting my past, and I glamour at the crown that I wear. I take it off, "I'll be back someday, but there's no day better than today to step forward."

I admire my surroundings as I go back home. I'm standing on my balcony like a baby bird that hasn't learned to fly. I am Christian Dominic Kuon, and I-

I'm cut off, and once again, I forget all that I've accomplished today. I head back home a loser, nothing but a seer who has failed his mission. I'm not lucid anymore, but I know one thing, I am a seer.

10:30, A Chrom Side-Story

Another day, another set of hours making potions and various medicines. The Library is closed for today, so I don’t seem to have much work. I look over at Pebble and Abso, fishing from their pier by the waterfront, and Mystry as they continue strolling The Memories’ grounds. I make myself some early morning coffee, and look at the clock, it’s 10:00 A.M., in thirty minutes, the Tala Mushrooms will stop shining, and be difficult to find once more. Hold on a second… I OVERSLEPT!

I snatch my coat as I rush out of the house, I need those mushrooms, their medicinal properties are perfect for rashes or stomach problems. Sure you get a minor glow, but who really cares? “CHROM!” Abso yells from the pier as I accidentally disrupt the fish as I hop across the stones. “Sorry Abso,” a sound I barely make in my exceptional speed. I swift through shortcuts as Sky soars through the sky, just above her home, and Sunny tours around his land, and I run just a bit past Kai’s house.

“Alright, somewhere in this forest, I just need to look for the glowing mushrooms, can’t be that hard right?” I mumble to myself. I have like what? 20 minutes left? I have time… I have time… No! No! No! Where is it? I searched tirelessly, and then it hit 10:30… damn it!

I walk home disappointed, dragging my feet across the gravel as I come home empty-handed, and there it was. It was 12:00… I misread the clock… Damn it Chrom!
